Pottery Dog Art Sculpture, Spaniel Doorstop

There's pottery and then there's art. This piece is unmarked, but it looks to be an 1897 Galesburg Pottery doorstop. This pup has a rough, primitive form. It's eyes and face, however show a mastery of detail that give it perfect expression. The glaze is deep and burnt with shiny, rust-colored spots. This serious spaniel needs to go to a good home and be given a fitting name. It has damage at the top of the head. One of a kind.

SIZE: 7.5" tall x 6" wide x 3.25" deep. It weighs 2.25 lbs.
