Isn't It Beautiful with Primitives?

Isn't It Beautiful with Primitives?

Rustic and handsome, primitives are the backbone of the modern farmhouse aesthetic. Far from being a trend, however, primitives are the timeworn beauties that have stood the test of time and will always have a place in a tasteful home.

Primitives are utilitarian and often handmade. Bringing an antique into your home is a surefire way to lend character and originality to your decorating.

Antique Wood Mallets

When you hold an item that was made by hand, you can run your fingers along the textures and feel where a living set of hands chiseled or sculpted or carved and put true loving care into creating an object that was meant to be used for decades.

Primitives are usually muted, earthy colors. Some like that for it's serene, monocrhome color palette. I like it because it's an easy object to pair with color. Fill a stony, gray bowl to the brim with oranges or persimmons. Bring a muted, steel scoop to the brightest ice cream party. An earthy color palette allows an accent color to really pop and steal the show.

Vintage Spring Action Ice Cream Scoop

I have been selling vintage for seven years. All products pictured in this post were available when I wrote this, but most are one-of-a-kind. When they are gone, they're gone!

All photos are my own.
